The Great North 10K which takes place in Gateshead is the biggest 10K running event in the North East and one of most iconic and celebrated sporting events in the country.

The event date for 2022 is yet to be confirmed and offers something for everyone whether taking on a 10k run for the first time or training for the Great North Run in September. Although many treat the 10k event as a formal test of training in preparation of the upcoming half marathon, participants are not required to be running Great North Run in to take part. This event is open to all who wish to run.

The scenic route takes runners along the iconic Newcastle and Gateshead quayside, on the Gateshead side, taking them past some of the town’s most popular attractions, including Sage Gateshead, BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art and also the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.

Starting and finishing in Gateshead International Stadium and running along the formidable River Tyne, it’s a great 10k to warm you up for the Autumn event season.

Great North 10k participants will have the opportunity to gaze across the Quayside as they pass by as well as pass under the Tyne Bridge, an iconic feature of its sister event, the Great North Run.
